Why choose a soy candle

Soy wax is a 100% natural wax derived from vegetable soybeans.

Environmentally friendly - It's harvested organically and any leftover flakes are used for animal feed. We love that!

Soy wax lasts longer - It burns slower than paraffin wax.

Soy wax burns cleaner - While all candles emit some black soot while burning, candles made from soy wax burns cleaner and results in less soot. It is also an excellent fragrance carrier that does not require chemical amplifiers.  The result is a well-balanced true to scent candle.

In comparison to paraffin wax - which is the most common candle wax due to its cheap costs, it is processed from petroleum, coal, or oil shale. As such, soy wax releases less toxins. *Review shoutout* We had a customer review that our candle eliminated a headache that was frequently caused by a lit candle. *YAAAS! yay*

At Paperwillows, we ensure our candles are curated at the highest standard with our usual trusted materials. That said, you may notice slight variations. For example, you may notice that after a burn and cool down, your candle top does not cool off as smoothly as it was when unlit - this is all normal as soy wax is a natural product!

Candle care

We take pride in the quality of our Paperwillows candles. If you notice any performance issues with your candle, please feel free to reach out to us for assistance!

⚠️ General precautions:

  • Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface
  • Avoid windy areas and drafts
  • NEVER leave it unattended while lit

⭐️ Extra tips and care:

  • Do not burn candles for longer than 3 hours at a time. Doing so will waste your candle and excessively evaporate the fragrance
  • Each time you burn your candle, allow the entire top layer to become a fragrant pool of liquid wax (roughly 30-60mins) and you'll get the most efficient scent possible

 🌟 Extra troubleshooting tips:

  • If your flame is too small/unstable/goes off prematurely - create a stronger flame by removing some wax. An easy way is, when there is a liquid pool of wax, dip a tissue paper in it to soak away some wax
  • If you notice large flame or soot/darkening around the candle jar - this means your candle wick is too big and creating soot. Ensure your wicks are always clean cut by removing the black tips of your wood wicks OR removing the rounded mushrooming end of your cotton wicks
